In order for a Marriage to be recognized in the United States a non-married couple must acquire a Marriage license in Nevada anytime before the wedding. No blood test or waiting period is required. This can be done in Clark County by submitting a pre-application at https://weddings.vegas
After the form is completed the couple will need to go together to pick up the license at the Clark County Marriage Bureau located at 201 E. Clark Ave, Downtown Las Vegas anytime before the ceremony between 8am – Midnight (open 7 days a week) with their photo IDs & pay the fee to the Marriage Bureau at the counter. Legal documents must be taken to the licensed NV officiant at the time of the ceremony. The officiant will fill out the marriage certificate & file it with the Clark County Clerk within 10 business days. A Certified Copy of winners marriage certificate can be obtained on https://weddings.vegas, For active military couples it is recommended to purchase 3-4 copies of your certificate for military records. Your records are saved indefinitely & additional copies can also be obtained at a later date.
All weddings in Las Vegas are recognized in the United States. If the couple will be residing in another country then additional documents like an Apostille may be required. Please check with the government officials of country of residence for requirements to prove legal marriage outside the US.
If a winning Couple does not provide or obtain a legal NV marriage license, the ceremony will be recognized as a non-legal commitment ceremony. Wording is altered slightly to omit any terminology representing the performance of a legal wedding.
Couples who are already legally married and are renewing their vows do not need to provide proof or documentation. The officiant can make reference to the time you have been married or perform the ceremony as it is the first time (pronouncing you "married"). The Clark County Marriage Bureau does offer an optional Renewal Certificate issued by Clark County for a fee.
